Optimum design speed gearbox for vertical axis wind turbine

This paper presents new results on optimal design speed for the vertical wind power generator. Based on the calculation of the mass of the gearbox and generators in order to get the minimum mass of the gearbox. From the results of the optimization program, formulas to calculate the partial transmission ratio of gear steps and the formula for determining the mass of the system (including speed gearbox and generator) have been proposed by applying the regression method. And also from the results, the optimal value ratio of the speed gearbox for the vertical wind power generator capacity of 10 kW was proposed.
