Determination of the base radius of translating offset follower cam mechanism

The base circle radius is an important parameter determined in the dynamic synthesis process through determination of cam's centre area by the graphical method. The paper presents a new approach to determine the base circle radius of the disk cam with a translating, offset follower with the use of the analysis method. The result confirms the application possibility of this approach in cam design process.
