The separation principle is a principle to design an output feedback controller by combining a states observer and a states feedback controller in chain. With this desing scheme, the obtained controller obviously has larger application opportunity in practice. Unfortunately, the separation principle is not appropriate for every states observer and a states feedback controller. Moreover, it also can not be applicable for any output feedback control problem. This paper presents the design method of optimal finite timestates observer used for states observation of disturbed MIMO systemsand its application in finite time decoupling control by output feedback based on separation principle.
