An application of genetic fuzzy system in active queue management problem - RED AQM

Currently, all types of information services tend to integrate Internet network. In order to support new Internet applications, it is necessary to design of effective congestion control and queue management algorithms. However, such a design is known to be difficult, because of variety of services supported in the Internet and their various demands for Quality of Service (QoS). So there is a new trend in using alternative techniques, such as Genetic Fuzzy Logic Controller (GFLC) which have the ability to cope with these problems and also provide more flexibility in modeling congestion controllers. In this paper, we introduce Genetic Fuzzy RED queue management algorithm, a fuzzy improvement to the well-known RED Active Queue Management (AQM) algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed GA Fuzzy RED AQM has better performance than the traditional RED machanism.
